{"id":15650,"date":"2008-11-13T08:05:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-13T08:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.staging28.planetswans.co.uk\/?p=15650"},"modified":"2020-11-13T07:33:53","modified_gmt":"2020-11-13T07:33:53","slug":"monk-looks-forward-to-bouncing-back-at-norwich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jackarmy.net\/wp67\/2008\/11\/13\/monk-looks-forward-to-bouncing-back-at-norwich\/","title":{"rendered":"Monk Looks Forward To Bouncing Back At Norwich"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Swansea City travel to Norwich City on the weekend and supporters should be reminded of what happened the last time the team exited a major cup competition losing the chance of a big money pay day.<\/p>\n<p>That was back in January and the Swans had just been humiliated by Havant and Waterlooville in a FA Cup replay.\u00a0 Two home wins later they travelled to Doncaster for what was billed as one of their toughest tests and they returned with a 4-0 victory in a game hailed by many as one of their best performances of the league winning campaign ironically on the weekend that they would have been playing at Anfield had they won the cup tie.<\/p>\n<p>And it is just that kind of &#8220;bouncebackability&#8221; that the Swansea captain will be interested in this weekend as he tried to put the poor performance to the back of his mind.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNaturally, we were very disappointed to lose against Watford because the carrot was to draw one of the big boys in the next round,\u201d said Monk in today&#8217;s Western Mail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we\u2019ve got the characters in the changing room to bounce straight back in the league.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did it after the Havant &amp; Waterlooville replay last season, and we\u2019ll do it again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure you\u2019ll see a reaction at Norwich City on Saturday<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know we have the mentality to go away and get a result there where maybe people don\u2019t expect us to. We\u2019ll be positive and retain the attitude of wanting to win every game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like to think we\u2019ll reap the reward for resting players in midweek.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we know if we\u2019re right on it, we\u2019ll get a result.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were expected \u2013 and we expected \u2013 to win against a side we had already beaten,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we win as a squad and we lose as a squad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re being honest, you\u2019d say that the changes may have upset our rhythm slightly and that was why we lacked our usual sharpness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut that was going to happen with a some lads who hadn\u2019t played that much football at that pace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe lacked fluency, but that only comes with games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt certainly wasn\u2019t down to a lack of effort.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was difficult for those players coming in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard for them to get into the side because the team is doing so well, and it was a chance for them to make a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, they didn\u2019t quite do that, but it was good to see them out on the pitch because they\u2019ve worked hard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut football can be a crazy game \u2013 one week you\u2019re in, next week you\u2019re out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just all have to keep going as a squad.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Swansea City travel to Norwich City on the weekend and supporters should be reminded of what happened the last time the team exited a major cup competition losing the chance of a big money pay day.
