The Swansea City manager was talking after his sides 0-0 draw at Bristol City for whom Lee Trundle was a second half substitute.<\/p>\n
“Trunds is a legend for our football club, but today he was not in our side,” he told BBC Sport.<\/p>\n
“It was disappointing in a way because… it seems that probably the point didn’t count that much.” <\/p>\n
“Lee will be a [Swans] legend any time.<\/p>\n
“But during the game it was a little bit disappointing to see that the fans wanted to appreciate that [Trundle’s status with them] when the other players in our squad were fighting extremely hard to earn a point.<\/p>\n
“It’s important to know that every game at this level for us is a cup final and we need to take it and every point is important.<\/p>\n
“Those things don’t work like that,” added Martinez in response to speculation that Trundle could return.<\/p>\n
“Lee Trundle made his decision. He left in a very difficult position just a few days before the first league game.<\/p>\n
“After that the players that stayed at Swansea need to receive huge credit because they’ve taken the club to Championship level and sometimes we are a bit romantic in football and love to look back and speak about these things.<\/p>\n
