The Swansea City winger was part of the Southend side that defeated Manchester United in the Carling Cup two years back and he is keen to make sure he is not on the opposite end of a cup upset this weekend when the Swans travel to Histon in the FA Cup.<\/p>\n
The non leaguers have already knocked out Swindon and Leeds and are keen to add their Championship opponents to that tally this weekend but Gower aims to ensure that does not happen.<\/p>\n
A Freddy Eastwood free kick was the goal that knocked Man Utd out of the Carling Cup at Roots Hall\u00a0– a Man Utd side that included both Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fear of cup upsets is always a big one because you have everything to lose in our position,\u201d Gower told the Western Mail.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was different at Southend because, when you come up against a team like Manchester United, it\u2019s exactly the opposite.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are the higher ranked team this time so we have to be on our guard.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut it is always going to be tough going to their place.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been in their position and you just hope that, if it all goes in your favour, then maybe you get the upset.<\/p>\n
\u201cFortunately that\u2019s what happened at Southend and, after a bit of magic from Freddy got us a goal, it was just one of those days when everything went for us and against them.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously it was great to be a part of that game. It\u2019s definitely something I will always remember.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are having a good season and the result against Leeds shows you they must be a good side,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut we just have to match them in terms of physicality and work-rate so then hopefully our football can do the talking.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough we haven\u2019t won in a while we haven\u2019t lost either so confidence is still relatively high.<\/p>\n
