The Swansea City manager says he will not be moving to replace Dimi – who has joined Cardiff City – despite having only David Cornell as back up should Dorus get injured at any stage.<\/p>\n
Martinez told the Evening Post “We wanted Dimi to stay with us, but we are not looking for anyone to replace him,<\/p>\n
“David Cornell is back in training after a long-term injury. He has worked with us for around 10 sessions and he looks very strong.<\/p>\n
“He has a great frame and has been working with (goalkeeping coach) Inaki Bergara for a very long time.<\/p>\n
“We have been impressed with David’s progression and we feel he is ready to push into the first-team squad now.<\/p>\n
“He has been frustrated with that but he has worked hard in the gym and his body is filling out,” Martinez added.<\/p>\n
“I think that without a doubt he is a player who will make it through to the senior ranks<\/p>\n
and I am more than happy to work with David and Dorus.<\/p>\n
“We are trying to finalise things with Dorus as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n
“His agent is in Holland so sometimes it is a bit difficult to get together, but it’s just a matter of sitting down and hopefully finalising things.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
