The midfielder on loan at Swansea City is one of the leading contenders for the player of the season award and was always going to attract interest from outside – interest that the Swans may find hard to overcome.<\/p>\n
As well as Espanyol potentially wanting him back, the interest of Celtic and the almost guaranteed lure of European football could be enough to turn Jordi's head in the direction of North of the Border.<\/p>\n
But Swans chairman Huw Jenkins says that he will do all he can to make Jordi stay at the Liberty and assist with another campaign next time around. Speaking to the Evening Post, Jenkins said "Roberto has talked at length with Espanyol from day one. But they have had changes of manager and are fighting against relegation.<\/p>\n
"They may lose a lot of players if they are relegated and could look to bring young players like Jordi back.<\/p>\n
"I don't know what Jordi might be worth or if other clubs are interested in him. He is not our player so I wouldn't expect to know.<\/p>\n
"What I do know is that despite the financial climate, there are still clubs who are prepared to throw ridiculous sums of money around.<\/p>\n
"But we would like to have Jordi back. He has had a fair season with us and if there was a chance of him leaving Espanyol we would pursue every angle to bring him to Swansea City.<\/p>\n
"The biggest danger, in my opinion, is that he will stay with Espanyol.'<\/p>\n
"We would have liked to have done something with both Jordi and Nathan. In Jordi's case it's out of our control and with Nathan it's not going to happen this week because it's out of our hands.<\/p>\n
