The Dutchman put to an end a summer of uncertainty by signing the new deal at the Liberty, convinced the club can move forward under new manager Paulo Sousa.<\/p>\n
De Vries said “I was almost gone but now it’s good to be back<\/p>\n
“And it’s pleasing because there is a lot of progress to be made with this club.<\/p>\n
“Roberto (Martinez) has gone but the club have made a good choice with the new manager.<\/p>\n
“People come and go in football but we have a team that clicks together.<\/p>\n
“That’s why I stayed because I feel I can grow with this side.<\/p>\n
“I have a personal ambition to be better all the time and I think Swansea City can help me with that.<\/p>\n
“I’m convinced the club can still go forward – I wouldn’t be here otherwise,” said de Vries.<\/p>\n
“I’ve spoken to Paulo and I’ve been impressed. He’s a footballer though and through.<\/p>\n
“Roberto was addicted to football and playing in the right way but so is this guy.<\/p>\n
“A legend as a player with an international status and the club have made a great choice.<\/p>\n
“Now it’s down to us to respond and take on his new ideas.”<\/p>\n
