He made a shock appearance in Yeovil boss Terry Skiverton’s testimonial match last Saturday, but he fears that his playing days are behind him. <\/p>\n
Way made an emotional return to the club ahead of the Bristol City match at the end of last season, and received a standing ovation from the Swans fans. <\/p>\n
The 29 year old struggled with injuries throughout his time at the Liberty Stadium – his final Swans appearance coming in the 4-1 home win against Leyton Orient in 2008. <\/p>\n
“Whatever happens, it is disappointing to have your career taken away through no fault of your own at the age of 29,” Way told the Western Morning News. <\/p>\n
“That really hurts, but whatever happens I have to move on with my life and stay strong. <\/p>\n
“If that was the last time I entered a playing field, then that was good enough for me. <\/p>\n
“It was quite emotional, but no-one could have written the script better. <\/p>\n
“To think of where I have come from, an electric wheelchair to walking on the pitch in the space of seven months – it has taken a lot of hard work and good attitude to get me there.” <\/p>\n
