The defender will return to action against Barnsley on Saturday after serving his suspension for a moment of madness that saw him red carded – one of three Swansea players to receive that fate – against Scunthorpe last month.<\/p>\n
Rangel's elbow swing earned him a red card just seconds after Gorka Pintado was ordered from the pitch as the Swans lost their cool as well as their Carling Cup place in the process.<\/p>\n
But the defender vowed to learn the mistakes from the past when he told the Evening Post "I am not going to do that sort of thing again<\/p>\n
"I am not really an angry type of person and I am not an angry player.<\/p>\n
"Yes, I have had a few arguments with players on the pitch, but I've never got involved before.<\/p>\n
"The frustration got to me in the Scunthorpe game, but I won't let it happen again.<\/p>\n
"If I have to embarrass a player in the future, I will do it with the ball.<\/p>\n
"I have to apologise for the red card<\/p>\n
"The referee punished us all the time in a game where I thought we were the much better team.<\/p>\n
"It felt as though we were playing against 14 players — 11 on their team plus the three officials.<\/p>\n
"Even when we had nine men we had chances to score, but the ref gave the ball to the other team and he laughed when we said he was wrong.<\/p>\n
"It's not an excuse — as a professional you have to be very competitive but you can never hit a player.<\/p>\n
"My heart was going at 180 beats per minute and I lost my temper, but you cannot use your hand.<\/p>\n
"I have to learn from what happened.<\/p>\n
"I spoke with him (Sousa) and obviously I got told off<\/p>\n
"But it was in a good way, a positive way. He understood that it was a difficult game, but I have to learn and concentrate on my football."<\/p>\n
In his absence Jazz Richards has impressed in the right back slot, something which was not unnoticed by Rangel "Jazz has shown that he has the quality to be in our team<\/p>\n
"He is strong defensively and he likes to get forward, which is important because of the way we play.<\/p>\n
"If he keeps his place I will understand, but of course I hope to get back in.<\/p>\n
"Right-back has been my position for the last 100 games or so, but now it is down to the manager.<\/p>\n
"Apart from the sending off, I felt I was very close to my standards in the Scunthorpe game," he says.<\/p>\n
