The Swansea City midfielder was a second half substitute last week at Newcastle where the Swans lost for the first time in twelve games – going down to three first half headers.<\/p>\n
However, rather than being downbeat, Allen has suggested that the Swans start another twelve match unbeaten run at Peterborough on Saturday – a run that would take them into the New Year and also would see them progress in the FA Cup.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the Evening Post, Allen said “Immediately after a game like that, losing affects your morale<\/p>\n
“We all felt disappointed to lose the way we did, and it’s important to do that because you have to reflect on a defeat.<\/p>\n
“But as soon as you are back in training you are concentrating on the next game, and we are focusing on getting a result against Peterborough.<\/p>\n
“You get disappointments in a season no matter what team you are or what position you are in.<\/p>\n
“We have got enough quality at the club to bounce back straightaway.<\/p>\n
“We have to go away from home again, but we are up against a team who are struggling a little bit at the bottom end of the table so it’s a chance for us to put things right.<\/p>\n
“We said before that game that we didn’t want to show them too much respect because we were the form team,” Allen added.<\/p>\n
“We were disappointed with the goals we conceded, although in the second half we showed great character and played the way we normally do.<\/p>\n
“What we have to do at Peterborough is make sure we start like we finished at Newcastle.”<\/p>\n
Swansea’s long sequence without defeat dragged them from the fringe of the relegation zone to fourth in the second tier going into last weekend.<\/p>\n
Consistent<\/p>\n
Now sixth, they need another consistent spell to keep themselves in the play-off mix over the busy Christmas period.<\/p>\n
“Unbeaten runs rarely last much longer than the one we have just been on,” Allen said.<\/p>\n
“We have had one minor setback against arguably the strongest team in the league, so that’s not a major disappointment.<\/p>\n
“We just have to kick on now and hopefully start another unbeaten run when we go to Peterborough.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
