The Swansea City midfielder says it is only a matter of time before he puts pen to paper on his new contract deal – just days after Huw Jenkins revealed they were waiting for an answer<\/p>\n
Speaking to the Evening Post, Orlandi said “We have been talking about it for a month and a half<\/p>\n
“The chairman and manager know what I think.<\/p>\n
“I am very calm and they are, too, and it’s a matter of time before we get the deal done.<\/p>\n
“It depends on a lot of things, but they know what I want and I know what the club want, too.<\/p>\n
“Everyone should know that there is no problem with myself and the club.<\/p>\n
“Sometimes the media will make a big story out of these things, but that is not the case here.<\/p>\n
“I am not worried about it and the club aren’t either.<\/p>\n
“When I arrived we were in League One, but we have changed a lot in two and a half years,” said Orlandi, who has started 13 games under Paulo Sousa this season.<\/p>\n
“We have stepped forward and are improving all the time.<\/p>\n
“It is not the same club I joined. Being part of that is fantastic for me \u2014 I am a part of the team and I am very happy here.<\/p>\n
“I’m really enjoying it. I used to play in this position in Spain, but I’m getting used to it again,” said Orlandi.<\/p>\n
“It is the best position for me because I have the ball a lot more than when I play out wide.<\/p>\n
“When you are a winger you need the pace like Nathan (Dyer), David (Cotterill), Cedric (van der Gun) or Tom (Butler), and that’s not one of my strengths.<\/p>\n
“You need that skill to take on players in a one-on-one, but when you are in a central position speed is not something you really need, so this is the better option for me.<\/p>\n
“I think the manager gets the best from me in this role.<\/p>\n
“But I want to do more for the team and help the club move up the table.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
