Cotterill’s first half strike gave Swansea City the lead in Saturday’s FA Cup exit at Leicester and the man who is due to complete a permanent move to the Liberty hopes that the goal will see him earn a regular place in the starting line up<\/span><\/p>\n

He told the Evening Post <\/span>“I will have to wait and see whether I get another start at Middlesbrough because it’s not always about scoring goals,” Cotterill said.<\/span><\/p>\n

“You have to put a good performance in as well and I wasn’t brilliant against Leicester.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Hopefully I can get a run of games soon because I think then you will see the best of me, but at the same time I know the boys have been doing really well and that I have to be patient.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I want to get myself into the team and stay in there for a long time, but I wouldn’t say I’ve been really frustrated because the team have been going so well,” he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The boys in my position have been impressing and we are in the top six in the table, so I can’t really complain about things.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I just have to stay patient, get my head down and try to take my chance when it comes.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The style of football at Swansea is completely different from what I was used to at Sheffield United. We like to pass it whereas United play a more direct game, so I have to adapt to the change.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The manager has told me to be more aggressive and you have to take note of what he says because he has won two Champions Leagues.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Whatever he says I will be taking on board because I’m trying to improve as a player.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We felt hard done by to be level at the break and obviously were disappointed to be out because we want to win every game,” Cotterill said.<\/span><\/p>\n

“But we have a massive game in the league coming up and we have to try to move on from this by winning up at Middlesbrough. We have got a confident group of lads who haven’t lost many games this season, so hopefully that will continue.”<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
