The Swansea City manager was in confident mood as he prepared his team to face Leicester at the Liberty this weekend – their first league game for almost three weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n

And he was so confident that he told reporters that if his side ended in the play off positions this season they would win them<\/span><\/p>\n

He told the Western Mail <\/span>\u201cI would be happy if we carried on as we have done \u2013 and to stay in sixth. That would be a big achievement for everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, in my opinion, if we get to the play-offs we will go to the Premier League.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhy? We are better than everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t need to buy anyone, we are strong enough. We are a good team, we are strong enough and play good\u00a0football\u00a0and have the resources to get promoted.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf we keep doing what we have been doing and we get there, we have a big, big chance. This is something I believe.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are sixth, but we know how close it is,\u201d he said. \u201cWe want to stay competitive, but we know we can win every game and this is what we want to do.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have won more than we have lost, but I want to win more.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we have the quality and the capacity and the right confidence to do that.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe chairman knows what I want,\u201d Sousa said. \u201cIf we get it, fine; if we don\u2019t then it is also fine because I understand the club\u2019s way and its philosophy. It is something I have accepted from the beginning.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI want to add something to my squad all the time and if it\u2019s possible of course I would be happy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be better all the time, some times small changes can help you to improve quicker.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI have my ideas and I pass those to the chairman and to the board. But the club knows the best way and what we can and cannot do.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever is settled, we will keep doing our job as we have done with the right confidence and belief.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe chairman and the players concerned know my consideration,\u201d said Sousa.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPlayers need to play, to feel happy and to develop skills.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd everyone is working hard to make the right decisions for those players.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if Stephen will still be here, but every player who is in the squad must be motivated to believe they can play.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
