The Swansea City winger is a leading contender for the player of the year award after a host of impressive performances as the Swans chase a play off position.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, he has been disappointed by his return in front of goal to date this season – his solitary strike ironically was a header in the 3-2 win over Cardiff at the Liberty Stadium.<\/span><\/p>\n

But as the season moves towards the business end the former Southampton man is looking to change that as he told the Evening Post.\u00a0 v<\/span>“I would like more goals than man-of-the-match awards,” said Dyer.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I’m happy with my form, it has been pretty consistent, but a few goals wouldn’t go amiss.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The gaffer does say to me when I get into certain positions that I look to cross rather than go for goal myself.<\/span><\/p>\n

“That is because that was drummed into me at an early age, but I am getting out of that habit.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I tried a few shots against Leicester \u2014 I miss-hit one \u2014 but at least I’m getting into that mind-frame of going for goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I want to get more and the other lads have the same belief.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The wingers do need to chip in and get involved.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Cotts has a great shot on him and scored a good goal against Leicester in the cup, but as wingers we need to test the keeper more than look for the extra pass.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Cotts has shown that we can score goals from outside the box.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We’ve done shooting exercises all season and the gaffer wants us to go for goal more often, and it is something we are working on.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We have different players on the wings, which is handy for the manager,” added Dyer.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We have Cedric (van der Gun), Tom Butler, Cotts and myself and the gaffer can mix and match whichever way he wants.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We all have to work hard in order to get onto the teamsheet \u2014 there’s no guarantees at this club.<\/span><\/p>\n

“But knowing that you have to work so hard in the week to get into the team is only a good thing.<\/span><\/p>\n
