Swansea City’s joint leading scorer was speaking on the eve of the Preston game with the Swans looking for a win that will move them within one point of fourth placed Cardiff.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Swans have struck just 23 times in 27 league games this season and that statistic makes their 5th place league position even more remarkable.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shefki Kuqi is excpected to make his first start for the club against Preston and Trundle hopes that all strikers can start hitting the target more in the run in to the end of the season.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s easy to look at the lack of goals and make a big issue of it,\u201d Trundle told the Western Mail \u201cIt\u2019s not an issue because we\u2019re still up there \u2013 but the strikers know we could do with a few more.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s tough because the way we set up with the extra man in midfield means we have a lot of possession<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe keep a hold of the ball a lot in the middle and it can limit what you get as a striker\u00a0in and around the box so maybe we don\u2019t create as many chances as other sides.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut the possession we have also means other teams don\u2019t see a lot of the ball and can\u2019t hurt us; it\u2019s one of the reason\u2019s we\u2019ve not conceded many.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re up there in the table because we\u2019re playing well, whether we\u2019re scoring loads or not.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe shouldn\u2019t be worrying about it too much when we\u2019re in the position we\u2019re in \u2013 it\u2019s working for us and the points are coming because we\u2019re playing well as a team.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, we\u2019d want to score more and it\u2019s tough for the strikers when you\u2019re in that lone role and you know you\u2019ve got to wait for your chances in a game.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSo I think the most important thing is that when they come we\u2019ve got to start putting them away and making the most of the opportunities we get in a game.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCompetition is tough, especially when we are going with one up top<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve come on and got my goals when I\u2019ve been given the chance so I can\u2019t worry about things, but of course I would like more time on the field \u2013 just as any player would.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a few of us fighting to start, but we\u2019re all completely different players and we all give different options.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cShefki\u2019s very powerful and strong and someone who will hold the ball up well. In fact, he\u2019s probably the type of player I\u2019d love to play with because you know if you get the ball into him around the box you\u2019re going to get bits off him.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we played together for a spell against Coventry it looked like we could work together and we have that option.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt can be easy just to look at the strikers \u2013 but it is hard with the one up top. When you have a two there you have someone to drag players away and make space; with one you\u2019re tightly marked.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut because of the way we play we\u2019re able to get goals from midfield because that\u2019s where we break teams down and we\u2019re able to have people running on.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great to see goals coming from all over the place, but as strikers we know we can\u2019t rely on other areas and we have to put chances away up front when we get them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
