The Swansea City vice captain believes that signing flair players like Sinclair can ease the pressure on the defence and the need to keep clean sheets constantly.<\/p>\n
Swansea's success last season was largely down to the defence and a record number of clean sheets as their lack of goals cost them dear.<\/p>\n
But after completing the capture of Sinclair this week, the Swans are hoping to solve that goalscoring problem starting on Saturday at home to Preston.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the Evening Post, Tate said "We welcome players who can come and score goals and create goals<\/p>\n
"The fans don't want to see defenders defending all the time — they pay their money and they want to see attacking football. And as players we want to see it as well.<\/p>\n
"If we are getting a few goals, it makes life easier for people like me because we don't have to keep clean sheets all the time!<\/p>\n
"I haven't seen a lot of Scott, but I have heard a lot about him and it's all been good," he added.<\/p>\n
"There's going to be pressure on him with the price tag because I don't think we've ever paid that sort of money for anyone.<\/p>\n
"But hopefully that won't affect him, and I don't think it will because he seems a level-headed lad.<\/p>\n
"Hopefully he can do well for us and score a few goals.<\/p>\n
"It was good to get the first win against Barnet, but hopefully we can follow that up on Saturday because the league is our bread and butter," he said.<\/p>\n
"Three goals and a clean sheet were good in the cup, even if it wasn't our most convincing display defensively.<\/p>\n
"Now we want the first league win because that always settles everyone down.<\/p>\n
"Hopefully that will come against Preston, although they are a very good team."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
