De Vries is waiting on a call from a friend to confirm his attendance on Sunday as he explained to the Western Mail \u201cI\u2019m still hoping, I know a teaching professional at the golf club I used to play at who\u2019s doing coaching sessions at the Ryder Cup all week. He\u2019s supposed to be ringing me back and sorting me out. I\u2019m still waiting, but I don\u2019t want to miss out.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m a keen golfer and a big fan of the Ryder Cup. I play off 16, but I\u2019m getting better as I\u2019m having lessons \u2013 I was 21 not so long ago and the target is to get it down to under 10.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great game and I love watching the pros and to have this kind of event up the road in Newport is quite amazing.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo the plan would be for us to get a good win against Derby and then see Europe win on Sunday. It would make it a perfect weekend.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt had been a bit difficult for us away from home,\u201d admitted de Vries.<\/p>\n
\u201cA couple of results didn\u2019t go our way, even if the performances were there, and a few decisions went against us.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut it\u2019s done now, people can stop talking about it and we can concentrate on kicking on.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the important thing. It was great winning away for the first time this season, but the last thing we now want to do is let that go to waste by not getting it right at home.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Liberty is a great place to play, from the atmosphere to the surface, but the most important thing is that it is somewhere we are comfortable and confident no matter who we play.<\/p>\n
