Emnes second Swansea City goal on Sunday settled the South Wales derby prompting manager and player to hint at a potential longer stay but that chance now seems to have passed and his loan spell will effectively end with tonight’s visit of Bristol City.<\/p>\n
Emnes is wanted back at Middlesbrough and whilst the return may not be a permanent one, Rodgers wants to bring a striker in ahead of the loan window closing in two weeks.<\/p>\n
“I was looking to keep Marv here but I totally understand that Tony wants to take him back,” he told the Evening Post<\/p>\n
“There may be not be a big possibility of doing anything with him until January now, because the (emergency loan) window closes on November 24 and Middlesbrough are probably going to want a few weeks to look at him.<\/p>\n
“He has been terrific here and is a good marker for the sort of player I want in the team. I’ve said from day one at Hull that I wanted a striker and nothing has changed.<\/p>\n
“We need a striker who is mobile, who plays with intensity and has quality.<\/p>\n
“Marvin has all that, as he showed with a terrific goal on Sunday.<\/p>\n
“We have Stephen Dobbie and Craig Beattie\u00a0who will be keen to make a mark, along with\u00a0Gorka Pintado.<\/p>\n
