Tate has played in three divisions for the Swans and wants to make that four as the Swans look upwards for a potential promotion to the Premier League.<\/p>\n

And if that happened it would be bottom of the league to the top division in an incredible 8 year period for a player who arrived from Manchester United.<\/p>\n

Playing in the Premier League for Swansea was something no-one would have even thought of not so long ago,” Tate told the Evening Post.<\/p>\n

“Me,\u00a0Garry Monk and Leon Britton, who has left now, have played for the club in three divisions.<\/p>\n

“To get to the fourth would definitely be nice.<\/p>\n

“Maybe, if we could get there, people would start talking about us in the same breath as the likes of Curt and Robbie James.<\/p>\n

“Obviously I wasn’t around at the time, but I have heard all about them and I know all about them<\/p>\n

“These are the players you want to be mentioned alongside.<\/p>\n

“Hopefully, in 20 or 30 years’ time, people will still remember the current Swansea team.<\/p>\n

“When I joined the club we were right at the bottom of Division Three, so it would be a good story.<\/p>\n

“It’s been an unbelievable start,” reckons Tate.<\/p>\n

“We lost to\u00a0Portsmouth<\/a>\u00a0last weekend, but I don’t think anyone is on a downer.<\/p>\n

“Things like that happen. If Chelsea can lose at home to Sunderland, then we can all drop points.<\/p>\n

“And especially in this league, it is going to be like that all season.<\/p>\n

“But there is excitement for us about what could happen this year.<\/p>\n

“It is a totally different feeling from anything we have had since I have been at the club, and probably since Toshack was here.<\/p>\n

“Before now, we have never been this high up the table and managed to stay there as long as we have.<\/p>\n

“There is pressure on us, but it is a nicer pressure than we had going into Hull in 2003.<\/p>\n

“If you don’t have belief, there’s no point in being in the game,” he says.<\/p>\n

“If you are only going to think that you might do something, you are going to end up in mid-table or scrapping to stay up.<\/p>\n

“It’s important that you have belief, as long as it doesn’t turn into cockiness or complacency.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
