The Swansea City striker headed home the equalising goal from Mark Gower’s free kick amongst allegations that the goal should not have stood following a foul by Beattie on an Ipswich defender.<\/p>\n
But he dismissed such talk and told the Western Mail \u201cI think it was clever<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s part of football. I think you\u2019re unlucky if you get a foul against you for that.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was given a football education by John Hartson so the big man has played a part in that goal.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you go back and watch some of John\u2019s goals from crosses he was clever.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut there was more to John\u2019s game than just being big and having the ball put on his head.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think big John scored many like my second goal but he knocked a few in so fair play to the big man.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not going to get carried away,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was signed to score goals and that\u2019s just me doing my job.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not going to set any targets.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m hard on myself when I\u2019m not doing it. When I\u2019m not scoring and not playing well and I\u2019m injured you don\u2019t want to be around me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beattie also paid tribute to Brendan Rodgers and added \u201cI had a few problems last year with a couple of knocks and not getting selected<\/p>\n
\u201cI had a bad injury in pre-season which really frustrated me but I got my head sorted pretty quickly and the manager was absolutely brilliant with me.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe didn\u2019t put me under any pressure and said to get strong and fit and in good condition.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has always said he is convinced I\u2019ll score goals and I just want to keep working hard and do as best as I can for him because he\u2019s brilliant.<\/p>\n
