The Swansea City midfielder has put in some impressive performances this season and it appears that the Swans are interested in securing him on a longer term deal to try and secure his future at the Liberty Stadium.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the Evening Post, Glenn Corcoran said “Joe still has the rest of this season and another year on his contract and he fully intends to honour that<\/p>\n
“We do get inquiries about him and some Premier League clubs have been in touch, but we just pass them on to Swansea.<\/p>\n
“It’s always nice to get that interest because it tells you that you’re doing something right.<\/p>\n
“But Joe’s focus is only on Swansea.<\/p>\n
“Brendan has talked to us about the possibility of a new contract.<\/p>\n
“He phoned me after the Wigan game (in October) and said he would like to get round to offering Joe something.<\/p>\n
“I was a bit surprised the call came as early as it did because most clubs these days tend to leave it until the final year of the present deal.<\/p>\n
“But Joe is a big asset for Swansea, they are pleased with him, and Joe will be happy to discuss a new contract.<\/p>\n
“No date has been set to start talking and whether it happens now or towards the end of the season I don’t know, but we said we would get together at a convenient time.<\/p>\n
“Joe is a great lad with a great attitude who wants to get better,” he added.<\/p>\n
“He wants to carry on being part of the Swansea team pushing for promotion and he is improving all the time playing for the club. Joe had a difficult season last year because of a few injuries. They hampered his progression, and I think he is still building his fitness now.<\/p>\n
“But he has started to play more frequently and he is enjoying playing under Brendan.<\/p>\n
“He is playing regularly for a club who play good football, which is important, plus Joe has been at Swansea a long time and they have been very good to him.”<\/p>\n
