Tate draws some similarities between himself and Neville on their passion for their clubs and wants to be part of a Swansea side that could create history by completing a league double on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Tate told the Western Mail \u201cHe (Neville) loves the club he plays for like I love the club I play for. There\u2019s nothing wrong with that<\/p>\n
\u201cYou see some people who kiss the badge or give it to the other side\u2019s supporters, but it doesn\u2019t mean a thing to them \u2013 they do it for attention.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnyone who knows me knows that\u2019s not the case with me. It\u2019s because I love the club, I love the city and it means more for me to beat Cardiff than anyone.<\/p>\n
\u201cI spent some time at United with him and he just brought pure passion for the club,\u201d said Tate of Neville\u2019s status as a role model.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou knew come a Saturday if anyone was give their all for the shirt it was him. Maybe that\u2019s what our fans see in me.<\/p>\n
\u201cGary will probably tell you himself that he was never the best player at United and I wouldn\u2019t say I\u2019m the best player here. But, out of everyone, I know I give 100 per cent.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t get me wrong, Gary was a good player, if not the best one, and he was a player you could look up to and see that if you give 100 per cent that\u2019s where it could take you.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe had a brilliant career, one I\u2019m sure he wouldn\u2019t swap for anyone\u2019s, and if people want to make comparisons with me that\u2019s great. I\u2019ll take it as a huge compliment.”<\/p>\n
Looking ahead to Sunday’s clash, Tate added \u201cIt\u2019s a great game, the one you look forward to most<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd it just so happens it\u2019s also a big one in terms of where we both are in the table.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not going to define whether we go up or not, but it\u2019s still a huge game, probably the biggest in history given where the clubs are.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, it\u2019s just three points \u2013 but no way is it just another game.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven if people say that, perhaps they don\u2019t really think it and I\u2019m sure Cardiff know what it’s all about by now.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of their players have been there long enough to understand it.<\/p>\n
\u201cCardiff are a good team with good players,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s no denying they\u2019ve got a squad that\u2019s more than capable of going up. Just look at the players they\u2019ve got \u2013 Bellamy, Michael Chopra, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Aaron Ramsey, while Jason Koumas can\u2019t even get a game.<\/p>\n
\u201cLook at the kind of wages needed to bring that in and it\u2019s ridiculous we\u2019re even competing with them.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut that\u2019s what we\u2019re doing against a lot of sides who have spent a lot more money than us.<\/p>\n
