The Swansea City manager goes into Sunday’s clash with Cardiff City with a budget that is a small fraction of that spent by the Bluebirds.<\/p>\n
But Rodgers also knows that his side holds a 2 point advantage ahead of the game which is more important and he is happy with the way that he is forced to operate by the strict budgetary control that operates at the club.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m at a club which is perfect for me,\u201d Rodgers told the Western Mail.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery manager would love to have big funds to work with and buy in players.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut we\u2019ve got something here that money can\u2019t buy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got talent, players that are humble and not distorted by football, which nowadays can be very difficult with the money and media and all the things which surround football.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve got players that money can\u2019t buy.<\/p>\n
\u201cGuys like Alan Tate, Garry Monk, those types of players.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat can carry you as far as a \u00a310m player.<\/p>\n
\u201cKnowing this league quite well in terms of wages that players are on and what our guys are on, for us to be in the position we are in is incredible.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a massive, massive applause for the players that we are up there fighting.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you look at the money aspect and had a table in terms of spending power, we would sit down near the bottom.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo it\u2019s a mark of how well the players have done here.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe group have been fantastic to get us in the position we are in and I hope as the season goes on we will become stronger.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe still have a lot of improvements to make as a group and hopefully we will see those over the next couple of years.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d be lying if I said we didn\u2019t want funds, but I am proud of how the club works and at least I will always know where I am with the chairman and the board.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are very determined about how the place should be run and I respect that.<\/p>\n
\u201cMe and the chairman have a laugh and joke, I want to get something out of him, and then he smiles because he knows how the club is run, then I\u2019ll keep pushing him.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe respects me being ambitious for the club.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe knows he\u2019s got someone here who wants to be here for a number of years and take the club forward on and off the field.<\/p>\n
