The Swansea City manager has recruited the Tottenham Hotspur defender on a season long loan to boost his defensive options ahead of their Premier League season.<\/p>\n
And he believes that he has snapped up one of the country's top talents for the Swans as he explained to the Evening Post "I am absolutely delighted that we have been able to bring in another top young talent <\/p>\n
"Steven has got all the attributes required and everyone I have spoken to about him thinks he is going to go on and become one of the top English centre-backs.<\/p>\n
"He has got all the qualities you need for the Premier League — he is strong, very quick and comfortable on the ball. Even though he is a young player he has good experience, and he is what I'd call a proper man.<\/p>\n
"He wants to improve and he is hungry to play for Swansea, so I am delighted to get him in.<\/p>\n
"It's a mark of where Swansea are at now that we have got Steven," Rodgers added.<\/p>\n
"The top clubs are keen for their players to come and play for us."<\/p>\n
Caulker, who impressed while on loan at Bristol City last season, will compete with Garry Monk, Ashley Williams and Alan Tate for a place in the centre of Swansea's defence.<\/p>\n
"You have to have that sort of competition," Rodgers said.<\/p>\n
"We had Albert Serran who offered us great cover last season, but he has now moved on and you need to have four centre-backs.<\/p>\n
