Brendan Rodgers has told his side that they cannot just rely on their home form if they want to stay in the Premier League<\/p>\n
Rodgers was speaking after his side lost their fourth successive away fixture in the Premier League on Saturday – this time a 3-1 defeat at Norwich giving them 0 points from their four trips to date.<\/p>\n
Contrast that with 8 points from 4 fixtures at the Liberty and it gives them a decent enough position in the table but Brendan knows that they have to start earning on their travels rather than just relying on the Liberty becoming a fortress.<\/p>\n
He said\u00a0\u201cI don\u2019t feel any pressure about the side when we go away. I think it\u2019s all the same, if you\u2019re home or away you need and look to win games.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur home form since I\u2019ve been here has been fantastic but there\u2019s no doubt we can\u2019t rely on just that. We have to get points and ultimately wins away from home as well because there will come a time when things won\u2019t go our way at the Liberty. That said, here there was something missing with our defensive side of the game which is normally very good. No matter who the opponent is, the defending has to be better.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone talks about our style and what we do going forward, but normally we are also very good defensively. We have kept four clean sheets already this season which is no mean feat for a newly promoted side.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo to be disappointed with the way we\u2019ve defended is not something I\u2019m used to.<\/p>\n
\u201cOffensively I thought we were a threat, our movement was good, we reacted very well to going behind and got ourselves into the game. But ultimately we didn\u2019t defend well enough as a team today and get the basics right.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe understand where we are,\u201d said Rodgers of his players. \u201cThey\u2019ve knuckled down and realised this is the most competitive league in the world so I\u2019m not going to kill them. We\u2019re going to have days like this as we did last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s important is the ability to bounce back and go again as we have done in the past. We\u2019ve hardly lost two games in a row since I\u2019ve been here and that shows the mentality and the honesty of the players.
