Brendan Rodgers and Alex McLeish both paid tribute to tragic Wales boss Gary Speed on a sad day at the Liberty<\/p>\n
Rodgers said after the 0-0 draw\u00a0“We decided to play the game as a mark of respect for Gary, because he was a football man<\/p>\n
“We spoke a lot because of our respective jobs, and he was a true football legend.<\/p>\n
“I thought the player’s performance level was fantastic and Ashley Williamswas phenomenal<\/p>\n
“I think you could see that it had affected Joe because he is very much a thinker, but overall I’ve got nothing but praise for my players.<\/p>\n
“It’s just so sad,” added Brendan. “He had been doing a fantastic job for Wales, and it’s a sad day for football.<\/p>\n
“Both sets of fans were brilliant, and it’s perhaps fitting that the game ended in a draw.”<\/p>\n
McLeish added\u00a0“It’s just unbelievable<\/p>\n
“When I heard the news my blood ran cold. It’s a devastating loss for football.”<\/p>\n
