Scott Sinclar is targeting more goals after scoring his first from open play this season in the 2-0 win over Fulham<\/p>\n
Sinclair was credited with his first goal despite a big deflection from Clint Dempsey that led some to dispute whether the goal should be credited to Scott or not.<\/p>\n
“I’m definitely claiming it. If you get the shot on target it’s your goal so I’m definitely counting that as one of mine<\/p>\n
“It got that deflection and perhaps I needed that bounce of the ball.<\/p>\n
“I still had confidence and was putting in the work but it wasn’t going for me. It did on Saturday and hopefully I can go on a run now and kick on.<\/p>\n
“I’m a goalscoring winger. I need to contribute with goals and I’m always hungry to score and you can see that.”<\/p>\n
And while Sinclair and Danny Graham scored the goals that sealed victory, Scott had special praise for goalkeeper Michel Vorm whose man of the match performance included a penalty save from the unlucky Dempsey<\/p>\n
“He’s a top-class goalie. Every day he works so hard and you can see that pay off in games like this where he showed what a top keeper he is. His contribution to the team is exceptional,” said the winger.<\/p>\n
“You could name the whole team as man of the match but Vorm was exceptional and kept us in it.<\/p>\n
“It was a great penalty save. He’s a quality, quality keeper who has settled into the side straightaway and he’s showing what a good signing he is.<\/p>\n
“It was great to see Danny come off the bench and get the goal and it shows the strength we’ve got in our subs and squad,” said Sinclair.<\/p>\n
“The gaffer changed the team a little bit and it allowed us to have a top-class goalscorer like Danny come on and make an impact like he did.<\/p>\n
“The dressing room was buzzing. It was a great result for us and great for Michel to make that save to spur us on. We know it was a good three points for us.<\/p>\n
“We picked the pace up in the second half. We’d given ourselves a platform at 0-0 at half-time and then it was down to us to turn the possession into goals which we did.<\/p>\n
“The defence was very strong and if we keep playing like that hopefully we can keep getting the wins.<\/p>\n
“It was a very important win, but so is every one in the Premier League,” Sinclair added.<\/p>\n
“We need to pick up points and keep winning at home.<\/p>\n
“We’ll go to Newcastle full of confidence and hopefully we’ll get something out of the game.<\/p>\n
