New signing Gylfi Sigurddson is likely to make his Swans debut at Barnsley tomorrow looking to follow a former team mate to success<\/p>\n
Sigurddson joined from Hoffenheim on loan earlier this week and follows in the footsteps of Demba Ba who made the journey from the German club to the Premier League last season.<\/p>\n
Gylfi told the Western Mail\u00a0\u201cMe and Demba keep in touch quite a bit and he\u2019s really enjoying the Premier League.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s done really well, scored a lot of goals and was fantastic against Manchester United the other night.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s good to see him go from Hoffenheim and do so well and I\u2019d love to make a similar impact.<\/p>\n
\u201cI scored a lot of goals at Reading and for Hoffenheim last season too so hopefully I can help the team for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s every boy\u2019s dream to play in the Premier League \u2013 it\u2019s one of the most exciting leagues in the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve set some targets in terms of goals and games, but I want to keep that to myself and I\u2019ll let you know in the summer if I\u2019ve met them.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was other interest and I was aware of which clubs \u2013 but as soon as I heard Brendan and Swansea were keen I wanted to come here and my mind was made up pretty quickly. I knew about Swansea and the good football they play. They\u2019ve carried that on in the Premier League and I\u2019m looking forward to being a part of that.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut Brendan was a huge reason for me coming here. We had a quick chat but he didn\u2019t need to sell the move to me.<\/p>\n
\u201cGoing to Germany was a fantastic challenge for me and things went well for me in the first year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThings have not panned out as I would have wanted after having three managers in one year, but you are in a big league with some big clubs.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first time you play someone like Bayern Munich you stop to think about it, but then you just enjoy playing the big teams in front of big crowds. That\u2019s why you play football, to go up against the best players and sides and hopefully I can have that chance again in the Premier League with Swansea.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I feel I am a better player now than I was when I left Reading. I feel stronger and more experienced from playing at a higher level.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow I want to get back to enjoying my football and do well for Swansea.<\/p>\n
\u201cI haven\u2019t begun to practise any free-kicks just yet. It was important to get back into football training because running on the treadmill is not the same as being out on the pitch.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I do feel good and I\u2019d be happy if I was involved against Barnsley.<\/p>\n
