Steven Caulker would not rule out playing for Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics if the chance came around<\/p>\n
Caulker has been in brilliant form for the Swans this season, helping them to their current 10th placed position in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
And he is also one of four players at the club who have been asked if he would be interested in playing if the chance came around<\/p>\n
Caulker said: \u201cIf the Olympics does go ahead with a GB Team, it would be fantastic to be a part of it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve got to keep playing at my best until the end of the season and hopefully I will get that opportunity.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve never really been a big fan of Olympic football, but if I got the opportunity this year I would be buzzing.”<\/p>\n
Caulker’s name has also been linked with an England call up which could add to his excitement with Euro 2012 looming large on the horizon\u00a0\u201cThat (call-up) is obviously for Capello to say, but it hasn\u2019t really come into my mind yet,\u201d added Caulker.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m playing U21s at the moment and I\u2019m just concentrating on doing well for them.<\/p>\n
\u201cDefinitely in the long-term picture, it would be a dream to play for England.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have to keep working, keep playing well and hopefully that chance will come.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe (Capello) has given a lot of young English boys an opportunity over the last few years so it\u2019s promising that he\u2019s coming here.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not getting ahead of myself yet, but it\u2019s exciting.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s three goals in three games for Nathan and we always knew he could score, I\u2019m pleased to see him start hitting the net.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Premier League is massive and the spotlight on it is huge. When you are playing on a big stage, if you do well you\u2019ll get recognised. So far so good.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no reason why they can\u2019t make the squad, Theo Walcott was on show today and Nathan\u2019s out-classed him so he can break through.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019ve been fantastic throughout the whole season.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are a lot of Welsh internationals here and it would be a great achievement for all of us if we could get the England call-up.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut we\u2019ve got to concentrate on our league performances first.”<\/p>\n
Caulker played his part in Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Arsenal which put to bed memories of his debut for Spurs – against Arsenal in a 4-1 defeat<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s amazing what a difference a year or so can make,\u201d said Caulker, who previously spent time on loan at Bristol City and Yeovil.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will have much better memories of this game.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a great game to play in and a fantastic result \u2013 the boys are buzzing.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur three results, drawing with Spurs, beating Aston Villa and now beating Arsenal, means it\u2019s been a great start to the new year and we are looking to build on it.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are in the top half of the table and that\u2019s where we want to stay.<\/p>\n
