Brendan Rodgers has set his sights on four more clean sheets this season which will give the Swans a Premier League record<\/p>\n
A Clean sheet at White Hart Lane would be the 13th of the season for the Swans, two short of Fulham’s record for most clean sheets for a newly promoted club in a 20 team top flight.<\/p>\n
And with only the two Manchester clubs currently above the Swans in the clean sheet stakes you wouldn’t bet against the Swans writing their name into Premier League history.<\/p>\n
“With eight games to go, I set the players performance-related targets.” Rodgers told Wales on Sunday<\/p>\n
“And if we could get four clean sheets from our remaining eight games, we would better the record by any promoted team which is 15 by Fulham in 2002.<\/p>\n
“The euphoria is around us for how we play the game. But that will be a brilliant stat for us to equal or beat that. It would also highlight the great defensive work the team does.<\/p>\n
“We understand to achieve that goal what we need to do in the game in terms of blocking, screening and pressing.<\/p>\n
“But it also helps our offensive game because when we press well, we pass well.<\/p>\n
“When people don’t see us too much then the first thing which hits you is the way we play and the intelligence of our game.<\/p>\n
“But when you see us consistency with the number of clean sheets, which is 12, then that defines our defensive game.<\/p>\n
“It was a big challenge for me coming into the club. We attack with creation and imagination, but we always have tactical discipline which is very important.”<\/p>\n
