Brendan Rodgers will look out at a sea of Elvis Presleys this afternoon as his side bid for a Top 10 Premier League place<\/p>\n
Rodgers called on Swansea fans to dress up as the music legend in relaton to a comment made at the end of last season that there was more chance of Elvis being found alive then there was in Swansea staying in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
All those critics have been proved wrong and victory could lift the Swans into a Top 10 place at the end of their debut season in the Premier League, something that Rodgers acknowledged would be a huge feat<\/p>\n
Rodgers said: “Look at Stoke. They are a consistent, established performer at this level, but haven’t finished in the top 10 yet.<\/p>\n
“That’s the reality of what these guys have the opportunity to do at the weekend.<\/p>\n
“To have the chance of finishing in the top 10 shows the hard work by the players and will be a brilliant achievement if we can do it.<\/p>\n
“But, whatever way the games go on Sunday, I’m so proud of my players. If we had finished 17th then that would have been remarkable.<\/p>\n
“The demands that have been on us this season, both on and off the field, have been incredible.<\/p>\n
“It has brought us really close together as a group. We’ve had a cause to fight for, defending our way of playing and to get results.”<\/p>\n
And on the interest in the Elvis Presley call?<\/p>\n
“I have been taken aback by the interest. Someone from the Valleys drove down to the Liberty Stadium a couple of days after I said it with a cake with a Swan dressed as Elvis. It’s absolutely phenomenal.<\/p>\n
“It is just something to make people smile. Football is global, but it’s also about fun. It’s an entertainment and we must not forget that.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
