The BBC are the latest to report that the Swans have agreed a fee for Gylfi Sigurdsson<\/p>\n

Reports surfaced earlier in the week that the Swans had agreed a fee with Hoffenheim for the midfielder who spent the second half of last season on loan at the Liberty Stadium<\/p>\n

A fee – reported to be £7.2m – doubling the club’s transfer record – is alleged to have been agreed between the two clubs with the BBC reporting the following<\/p>\n

“Swansea City have agreed a fee of about £7.2m with Hoffenheim to sign loan midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, BBC Sport Wales understands.<\/p>\n

“The Icelandic international and Swansea are expected to have talks regarding his personal terms this week.<\/p>\n

“Sigurdsson j<\/a>oined Swansea in January on loan from the German club until the end of the season.<\/p>\n

“The 22-year-old impressed during his spell at the Liberty Stadium and scored seven goals in 17 starts.<\/p>\n

“Hoffenheim signed Sigurdsson in 2010 for £6.5m from Reading, Swans boss Brendan Rodgers’ former club.<\/p>\n

“Swansea’s initial bid, thought to be close to £4m, was rejected by the Bundesliga club, who are keen to recoup the fee they paid for Sigurdsson.<\/p>\n

“The Welsh club earned £45.9m from television and prize money during their first season in the Premier League, finishing 11th in the table, and so have funds to strengthen the squad.<\/p>\n

“Sigurdsson said in April he would be happy to stay at the Liberty Stadium beyond the end of the season.<\/p>\n

“But Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins had admitted the Welsh club would struggle to keep hold of the midfielder.<\/a>“<\/p>\n
