SWANSEA CITY keeper\u00a0Michel Vorm has been ruled out for two months after tearing an adductor muscle in the 1-0 defeat at Manchester City.<\/p>\n
But Swans boss\u00a0Michael Laudrup has backed reserve stopper Gerhard Tremmel to succeed when he gets thrown into the deep end against Liverpool and Chelsea this week.<\/p>\n
Scans yesterday confirmed that Netherlands international Vorm, who recently signed a new four-year Swans deal to ward off interest from top clubs, will be on the sidelines until Christmas after damaging his groin trying to keep out Carlos Tevez\u2019s winner at the Etihad Stadium.<\/p>\n
It is a hammer blow for Swansea with Vorm voted their player of the season in last year\u2019s impressive Premier League bow.<\/p>\n
But 33-year-old Tremmel has insisted he will be ready to impress \u2013 and he has the support of Laudrup ahead of Wednesday\u2019s Capital One Cup trip to Liverpool and the visit from European champions Chelsea on Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is some games to start with, but Gerhard is ready,\u201d said Laudrup.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is very sad for the ones getting injured, but that is a part of being in a sport\u00a0like this.<\/p>\n
\u201cInjuries happen and the next man suddenly has to be ready. Now it is his turn.\u201d<\/p>\n
Laudrup revealed Vorm had felt a niggle in his groin before the fateful dive to try and keep out Tevez\u2019s effort, the Argentine\u2019s strike the only goal of the game\u00a0as Swansea both frustrated and frightened the champions.<\/p>\n
But after the injury the Dane described as \u201cfreak\u201d, Tremmel said he is ready to deliver on his opportunity.<\/p>\n
The former Red Bull Salzburg keeper said: \u201cIt is tough for Michel, but it is a good chance for me now.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t have much to do on Saturday which was fortunate because it was freezing and it is difficult to come into a game so cold like that from the bench.\u201d<\/p>\n
