Brendan Rodgers, Colin Pascoe and Joe Allen all left the Swans last summer to head for Anfield but Williams insists that the kind of thoughts behind that sit more with the fans than the players.<\/p>\n
The Swans head to Anfield ahead of their opponents in the Premier League table and looking upwards at the European places as second season syndrome becomes nothing more than an urban myth in South Wales.<\/p>\n
Victory on Sunday will push them past the magical 40 point barrier declared by many as enough for safety and into the League Cup Final a week later on a massive high.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a big game,\u201d Williams told the Western Mail.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was important for us to get the win last week over QPR.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd we\u2019ll be looking to win again and set up to do that, but we know going to Anfield will always mean a very hard, tough game.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, there\u2019s the fact Joey\u2019s there and obviously Brendan is there so it\u2019s going to be massive in that respect.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I wouldn\u2019t say there\u2019s a sentimental edge \u2013 that kind of thing\u2019s more for the fans.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019ll probably always be like that and it\u2019ll be the same when we play Wigan with Roberto (Martinez).<\/p>\n
\u201cBut for us, we\u2019ll just get on with it because it\u2019s just another game and important in its own right. You have so many colleagues in this game that you\u2019re always playing against someone that you know.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd going to Anfield will always be a massive game in its own right, as it is any time you get to play at a stadium like that.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re going to be up for it because it\u2019s a big occasion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re doing really well at the moment,\u201d said Williams.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I always knew they\u2019d come good with Brendan in charge.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t surprise me that they are doing really well. It\u2019s probably going to be one of the toughest matches we\u2019ve played over the last two years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Williams was also asked about coming up against Luis Suarez again after his comments earlier on this season that he may have wanted to knock him out<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s going to start, he\u2019s a good player and they\u2019ve got Sturridge as well so it\u2019s going to be tough defensively,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n
