The Swans go into league action for the first time since New Year’s Day when the Hammers visit the Liberty this afternoon and Monk is out to avenge a disappointing display when they lost at Upton Park just a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n
It was a frustrating afternoon then for the Swans who opened the scoring thanks to the soon to be departed Bony before succumbing to two Andy Carroll goals before a late third finished the game the other side of the sending off of Lucasz Fabianski.<\/p>\n
The Swans were widely criticised that afternoon for their performance and Monk wants to make up for that this afternoon.<\/p>\n
He insisted his players would not be distracted by the speculation regards their top scorer and told the Evening Post “I can assure you the players are focused on West Ham. The players are fully focused<\/p>\n
“We were always going to be without Bony in this period anyway and the players knew that. We had already planned for that.<\/p>\n
“We had a disappointing performance and result against West Ham a few weeks back and we don’t want to make the same mistake again.<\/p>\n
“We will be looking to put a performance on in front of our crowd.”<\/p>\n
A win for the Swans will take them through the thirty point barrier for the season and keep up their push for a European place come the end of the season. A big win will see us leapfrog the Hammers as well who also find themselves in that mix with the season now in its second half.<\/p>\n
A sell out crowd is again expected at the Liberty Stadium.<\/p>\n
