Cork finished off the first goal for the Swans after he converted Matt Grimes corner and although the Swans were pulled back in the second half after the award of a penalty, Bafetimbi Gomis was on hand to score the winner with a little over 15 minutes to go.<\/p>\n
The general feeling in the Swans camp was that they were pleased with the win but not as happy as potentially they were with the midweek performance and that was a viewpoint echoed by Cork.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Although our play at times wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t the best, we did most of the things we started out to do,\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 explained Cork. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We started the first 15 minutes brightly; kept the ball well and got the opening goal. It dropped to me perfectly and I couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t do anything but hit it first time. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m happy with the goal. <\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153They changed their game a little bit, put more pressure on us and made it difficult. They ended up playing very well, but we still got out of it what we wanted – we ended up winning the game.”<\/p>\n
Cork is likely to be an integral part of the Swans midfield this season following his move to the Swans from Southampton and he could well – with a good season – force himself into the international frame for next season’s European Championship finals in France.<\/p>\n
He believes that the work the club is currently putting in will keep them on track for what looks like a tough start to the season.<\/p>\n
“If we keep on doing what the manager wants us to do and stick to the plan, it will benefit us during the season. <\/p>\n
