And I guess it was somewhat almost predictable that former manager Francesco Guidolin would turn up at the conference as his replacement – Bob Bradley – addressed the assembled media.<\/p>\n
Outside of the comment around the marketing film, Bradley said largely the same things even though the paranoia of the owners (“Judge him on the football not his passport or accent”) had clearly had an effect on him as he declared himself a football manager and not a pioneer for the game.<\/p>\n
Bradley is the first American to manage in the Premier League – a fact that is broadcast around the media with hysteria almost as much as if he would have had two heads and Swans fans will always judge their managers on results. It is somewhat of an insult for anyone to suggest otherwise.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s be clear about one thing \u00e2\u20ac\u201c no matter what your name is, if you come to the Premier League you have to earn respect,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Bradley said.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153A name might sound good at the beginning, but you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t get handed anything \u00e2\u20ac\u201c you get tested.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I am excited about the test I am going to face here, but I fully understand that as with everything I have done in my life, you have to earn respect.”<\/p>\n
Bradley went onto say about his family coming from Govan, home of Sir Alex Ferguson before he talked about the importance of the club’s relationship with its supporters. That relationship is somewhat tarnished at the moment as the change of management happened without input from the Supporters Trust and much of the good work of the past 15 years is being eroded by the way the club approached the change.<\/p>\n
That, of course, is not Bradley’s fault and he deserves a chance with the supporters –
