Steve Cooper was not going to get drawn into a war of words with opposition manager Neil Warnock last night as he refused to get drawn into a response to Warnock’s comments on Sky that his (Cooper’s) father must be calling on favours to get the decisions the Swans are.<\/p>\n
Warnock was reacting after the late decision to award the Swans a penalty that gave us three vital promotion points in a pretty dull encounter at the Liberty but ultimately one that had the result that the Swans were desiring.<\/p>\n
Cooper’s father is Keith Cooper, a former top flight referee and Warnock jokingly made his claim in the middle of a very long rant about the performance of the officials which he felt cost his team what they deserved.<\/p>\n
“I am not getting involved in personal tittle-tattle,” said Swans boss Cooper after the 2-1 win for the Swans.<\/span><\/p>\n “We are a classy club and I am classy person.\u00a0 I’d be so disappointed if our lads were making challenges like that at pivotal times in the game.<\/span><\/p>\n “I wouldn’t say we had the rub of the green. We’re working so hard. I wish I could have made the changes they made today with the players they were bringing on and the resources that have gone into that, a day’s extra rest and making all of them changes.<\/span><\/p>\n “Rub of the green? That’s just pure hard work, spirit and pride to play for the football club.”<\/span><\/p>\n
