Sometimes a football manager can only say the obvious and that was certainly the case for Steve Cooper this evening as he had to admit after the game that the Swans were not at their best in tonight’s 1-1 draw at Blackburn.<\/p>\n
You could probably build a case to say that Cooper’s comments were somewhat of an understatement after we were once again grateful to an Andre Ayew penalty to earn us a point on a night when neither side left the game with any credit.<\/p>\n
The point did lift the Swans level with Watford in second place still with a game in hand but left a stark reality that things need to improve in the coming games if we are to capitalise on our position and earn ourselves a place in next season’s Premier League.<\/p>\n
Speaking after the game Cooper said “It was not the best of performances, I did not like us at all first half, that is not the team I want us to be in terms of our style and identity.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf we are going to make mistakes, I want us to do it our way, and that was not the case.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat needed addressing, because we were not good enough on the ball.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe second half was a little bit better, but not brilliant, and it wasn\u2019t a great game in the end.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are a point better off with one of the games in hand, sometimes if you don\u2019t play well you have to make sure you don\u2019t lose.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are picking up points, which is not a bad habit, and I cannot question the lads\u2019 commitment and attitude, there\u2019s players there who have played a lot of games.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not sitting here elated, because we have drawn and not played so well, but I wont dwell on it as it\u2019s a tough schedule. We have picked up a point in one of our games in hand.\u201d<\/p>\n
