Swansea City are linked with a move for Brighton & Hove Albion defender Haydon Roberts in the January transfer window with reports from the Athletic stating that both us and Nottingham Forest are eyeing up a move for the highly rated defender.<\/p>\n
Roberts has been a regular name in the matchday squads for Brighton this season but is yet to take to the pitch in the Premier League and has had to be satisified with FLT and Carabao Cup appearances so far this season, one of which was against the Swans back in September.<\/p>\n
So with first team appearances limited then it is expected he may be allowed to leave in January and that has alerted the Swans particularly with the situation that Rhys Williams maybe recalled by Liverpool due to a lack of game time.<\/p>\n
So is Roberts what we need?\u00a0 Former Swans boss Graham Potter seems to think so with his description of the player\u00a0\u201cHe\u2019s a really exciting player,” he said back in September when discussing Roberts ahead of the Swansea game.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is obviously young and he has got a lot to learn but he has got some really interesting attributes.<\/p>\n
\u201cVery strong, very quick, very mobile. Powerful.\u00a0 Good with the ball, brings it out well.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s got good courage so he\u2019s got a lot of things that are really exciting, that fit how we want to try and do things.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has got attributes that can play in the Premier League.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has got some qualities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to help him get better, help him understand a bit more about what we are trying to do.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a young guy and he wants to learn so we are really pleased with him.\u201d<\/p>\n
All of this is good reading for Swans fans assuming we can make a move for Roberts in the window.\u00a0 \u00a0Given Potter’s links with the club and his relationship with Russell Martin then you would hope this could stand us in good stead for a move.<\/p>\n
