You can see by watching him that Conor Gallagher has a bright future in the game.\u00a0 Although maybe he hasn’t hit the goalscoring heights that he hit at Charlton earlier in the season, his five assists for the Swans put him second in the list for the squad this season, only behind Andre Ayew.<\/p>\n
Gallagher’s move from Charlton to Swansea (via his parent club Chelsea) happened quickly and he explained to that they felt it was best that he moved to South Wales, something that he believes has benefited him.<\/p>\n
“Chelsea thought it was best for me to go to Swansea and it’s turned out well because I’ve developed a lot here as a player and a person as well, so it was definitely a good move for me,” Gallagher told WhoScored.com.<\/p>\n
“I think at Swansea they have more of the ball than Charlton did, and he (Cooper) gave me a chance to create more chances and I think that’s why I’ve got a number of assists for Swansea.”<\/p>\n
Gallagher was joined at the Liberty back in January by Rhian Brewster and Marc Guehi, both of whom he says he has “grown up with” – “It’s helped me settle in at the club having good mates there already; it’s helped all three of us really.\u00a0 Growing up playing football with them, you know each other’s games and they know what you’re good at and they know where you can be better at.”<\/p>\n
Gallagher has started every league game for the Swans since making the move to the club with him of course being a player well known to Steve Cooper following his time with England Under-17s.<\/p>\n
Personally I don’t think we have seen the best of the midfielder but that is probably largely down to the form of the club in his time here rather than a criticism of the player and he hopes that his form in the Championship may open the door for him at Chelsea with Frank Lampard prepared to give chances to younger players.<\/p>\n
“It definitely makes me very hopeful, as it does with other Chelsea youngsters, seeing how many youngsters have come through this season, so you know that it’s possible if I keep working hard and playing well then hopefully I’ll get my chance.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
