Michael Obafemi hopes to put his problems at Swansea City behind him upon his return from international duty but was grateful for the support of Ireland boss Stephen Kenny earlier this month.<\/p>\n
The Irish boss leapt to the defence of Obafemi after Russell Martin took the decision to leave him out of the squad for two matches stating that there are “two or three sides to every story.”<\/p>\n
It was an intriguing interchange; Martin replying with surprise after his own conversation with Kenny just days before.<\/p>\n
Obafemi scored in the 3-2 win against Albania to make it two goals in three games for the Irish national team and he will hope he can return to form at club level starting at West Brom Saturday.<\/p>\n
He did say the fans’ reaction to his return to the pitch against Hull City was “interesting” but is now just focused on his day job in South Wales.<\/p>\n
He told the Irish Mirror: “Obviously I’m a Swansea player and happy there, but the main thing is to just get back playing.<\/p>\n
“And that\u2019s it, really.<\/p>\n
On Kenny supporting him in the media: “Yeah, I don\u2019t really need to get into too much detail but I\u2019m thankful that he had my back.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m here and I\u2019ve done well and that\u2019s the main thing. I\u2019m glad that he said what he said but, ultimately, it\u2019s in the past now and we\u2019ve got to move on forward.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
