Russell Martin says that new signings are further away now than they were a week ago following the 3-1 win at Sunderland on Saturday.<\/p>\n
His team won at the Stadium of Light thanks to goals from Joel Piroe, Liam Cullen and Ollie Cooper after Luke O’Nien saw red within the first twenty minutes.<\/p>\n
The win – which was most welcome after the recent run of form – moves the Swans to within three points of the top six and finally gave them a positive goal difference with 19 matches left of the Championship season.<\/p>\n
Perhaps the next piece of work should be recruiting new players although there doesn’t particularly seem much urgency at least from those in charge to address what is a threadbare squad of players.<\/p>\n
With Michael Obafemi seemingly set for Burnley, Jamie Paterson for Coventry, Armstrong Oko-Flex and Fin Stevens already returned to their parent clubs, Nat Ogbeta and Brandon Cooper loaned out, it leaves the cupboard bare to say the least. That’s not including the contract disputes with Joel Latibeaudiere and Ryan Manning – both of whom are set to leave in the summer as things stand.<\/p>\n
Probably fed up of similar questions of late, Swansea boss Martin said: “Nothing’s changed on anything since we last spoke.<\/p>\n
On rumours of a deal for Paterson to Coventry: “Mark [Robins] and Adi [Viveash] are two people we respect hugely and know really well. We haven’t spoken to either of them and I think they would have been in conversation at some point. That’s that really.”<\/p>\n
And on possible incomings, Martin said: “I don’t know. I don’t think so. I’d rather talk about today because literally nothing has changed since I last spoke to you.<\/p>\n
“We’re probably further away from doing something than we were. That’s where it is really.<\/p>\n
“Probably at times today it was quite evident what we lack a little bit. But we’ve come through it, scored three goals and it’s a brilliant victory.”<\/p>\n
