at most levels of logic &#8211; that even with a sticking point as relatively trivial as this should be able to be closed off much quicker than is actually being proved at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>To recap the issue is as simple (!) as whether Southampton are a Premier League or Championship club.\u00a0 \u00a0 The answer to that dictates the compensation that the Swans will be entitled to when Martin heads to St Mary&#8217;s.\u00a0 \u00a0And we still say when rather than if because there is a widespread belief that agreement will be reached, the question is whether it will be reached amicable.<\/p>\n<p>Martin is believed to have agreed personal terms with the Saints which led to the reports of a few weeks ago when his appointment was meant to be imminent.\u00a0 \u00a0It is therefore quite incredible that the two boards have not come to some level of agreement on compensation even over the sticking point that is going around at the moment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"getty aligncenter\"><a id='x1HuVVPVTIV_ZuY6UTEvXQ' class='gie-single' href='http:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/1234677693' target='_blank' style='color:#a7a7a7;text-decoration:none;font-weight:normal !important;border:none;display:inline-block;'>Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'x1HuVVPVTIV_ZuY6UTEvXQ',sig:'JVC1Z2Hy6o8jFmVG7yY4r-tR2drnVH80_Pa0yaBzBN0=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'1234677693',caption: false ,tld:'com',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/div>\n<p>Yesterday, journalist Alan Nixon stated that Southampton were waiting to name Martin when they lose their Premier League status which frankly is not helpful from a Swansea City perspective.\u00a0 It would, I suspect, also lead to additional legal challenges from a Swans perspective given our current stance is that Southampton were (are) a Premier League club when talks commenced with the Swansea manager.<\/p>\n<p>The report though tells you just how bad the stalemate has been between the two clubs and hopefully will trigger some interest from both sides to try and reach a swifter conclusion which surely must benefit both clubs rather than this stand off.<\/p>\n<p>The reports on how much difference there is between the two compensation packages has been wide ranging but there is &#8211;
