Luke Williams was a naturally happy man this evening after watching his side secure a comfortable 3-0 win over Preston at the Swansea.com Stadium, a result that gave his side a first league success of the season.<\/p>\n
After the disappointment of last week’s defeat at Middlesbrough, today’s win meant back to back home wins for the Swans after we progressed in the League Cup on Tuesday at the expense of Gillingham<\/p>\n
Goals from Matt Griemes, Azeem Abdulai and Zan Vipotnik gave the Swans the three points that their performance deserved and was a perfect set up for the visit of Cardiff next week, with the visitors arriving in SA1 next Sunday bottom of the league after they were hammered 5-0 at Burnley this afternoon.<\/p>\n
Speaking at his post match press conference, Williams said\u00a0\u201cIt does not get a lot better than that, to be honest with you.\u00a0 To have three goals and a clean sheet, you can\u2019t really complain. So we are happy with our day\u2019s work today.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe took a lot of lessons from that performance on Tuesday evening, and I think you could see a lot of the same things were evident again today.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was very pleasing, and we have a long way to go to be the team we want to be but there are a couple of good markers there and we have to maintain those levels as a minimum.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe put a lot of work into the opposition during that first 45 minutes, and it became more difficult for them to shut those spaces down as the game went on.<\/p>\n
\u201cI actually thought they started the second half brilliantly well, and they threw a lot\u00a0 at us, but as the game wore on it became more our type of game and we find those spaces.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had that flair on the outside of the pitch, the full-backs were able to join in, but we also looked like we could penetrate through the middle of the pitch and we want to add that to our game steadily.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was so happy for \u017dan because this is the type of goal that we want him to score, It\u2019s a proper striker\u2019s goal and I think for a player to get off the mark quickly, it really helps to make them feel more confident.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s hope we can provide more and more chances for him in a similar way.<\/p>\n
\u201cI also thought Liam Cullen\u2019s performance was typical of him, and I am sure he is going to score a lot of goals as well.<\/p>\n
