There was little entertainment for a crowd chilled by a West Country gale which ruined the match as a spectacle, but Swansea were delighted with a point. <\/p>\n

"It\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac™s a point gained without a doubt," said Swansea manager Brian Flynn. "It was a difficult wind and we had a lot of defending to do in the second half "But we showed a lot of commitment to the job.\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d Torquay head coach Leroy Rosenior described it as: "An awful game, one of the worst I’ve seen for a long time.<\/p>\n

"But we’ve kept a clean sheet and got another point without playing well.<\/p>\n

"Its going to be interesting right to the end of the season and, when we look back then this might prove to be a good point.\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d Outstanding for Swansea was 20-year-old centre half Alan Tate, on loan from Manchester United, who did not miss a trick in the air or on the ground.<\/p>\n

Torquay, who had to face the near gale force wind in the first half were the happier side at the interval, especially as livewire striker Jo Kuffour was always a threat with his pace.<\/p>\n

But with the wind behind them Torquay increasingly played too many long, high balls and Tate and Kristian O\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac™Leary gobbled them up.<\/p>\n

Swansea could and should have won it in the 65th minute.<\/p>\n

When Torquay only half cleared a corner, Leon Britton’s deflected shot fell for O’Leary only four yards out, but he was so surprised to find himself still onside that he fluffed his shot.<\/p>\n

Torquay’s leading scorer David Graham went close in the 72nd minute, poking the ball just wide after beating Swansea keeper Neil Cutler to a through ball.<\/p>\n

But a goal then would have been a cruel injustice for Swansea’s gritty defence.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Swansea produced a gutsy display as they carved out their third successive goalless draw to frustrate play-off hopefuls Torquay. <\/p>\n

The Welsh side have now failed to score in their last four games but a share of the spoils keeps them out of the relegation zone.<\/p>\n

Brian Flynn was forced into a change early on when the injured Jason Smith was replaced by Lee Jenkins before Jo Kuffour drilled a left-foot shot wide for the hosts.<\/p>\n

Swansea came close to opening the scoring just before the break when Kevin Nugent and Leon Britton both had goalbound shots blocked and Nugent then hammered a right-foot shot just wide.<\/p>\n

Torquay finally carved out a decent chance of their own, but Martin Gritton was unable to defeat Neil Cutler with a header as time began to run out.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
