The game started with constant pressure from the home team, pushing the ball to their excellent winger Farrell (dodgy dye though!). Roger however was rarely troubled in the first half as Smudger Smith and Bound thwarted any crosses from the wings.
At Last a Goal
All pressure was being soaked up easily until a Freekick from 30yds rocketting to the top corner, was pushed away dramtically by Freestone, pushing his claim for Wales’ No. 1 Keeper shirt.
Watkin was in fine form this afternoon with some excellent first touch balls, setting up Price and Boyd on a few occasions, however when he went to shoot, it all went a bit pear shaped. Watkin however won us the penalty for our 1st goal. on 36 mins.
A great ball from Coates to Watkin just outside the area was controlled brilliantly by Watkin who stepped just inside the area as he was clattered to the ground by the Posh defenders, even from 80yds away you could see it was a penalty. Bound as ever, whacked it to the right of the despairing keeper.
H/T
The goal only went on to Spur the team on, unlike last season were we would have happily sat on the lead, the team went out for more.
On 52 mins Boyd made a great run around the left leaving one defender, tucked inside another and made his way to the bi-line, his shot cannoned off the keeper onto Price and falled into the net.
This finally woke the half dead 6,000 crowd of Posh supporters, screaming for a goal, the pressure again was soaked up easily, letting Boyd and Price play on the break.
it should have been 3-0 after 80 mins when Price passed the ball across the middle to Boyd who’s cross come shot again cannoned off their keeper Tyler only for Price to fall and miss the rebound.
After that it was all Swansea, with containing pressure just to see out the last 10 mins of play. The relief in the players faces, was evident to see. At last a win.
