the Swans dominated play throughout the first 45 mins without ever really causing TNS any problems. Steve Jones back after a long injured spell went off after 5 mins but no information has passed about his injury. With just Anthony Wright up field for the visitors, the Swans were unable to play through them. The visitors created the best chances, with Roger Freestone saving well from a penetrating Nicky Ward run after 25 mins. It was no surprise when Tim Alexander gave the visitors the lead with a fine 30-yard free kick that left Roger Freestone “flailing” as it flew into the bottom corner after 42 mins. Despite the quality of the shot, Freestone will have been disappointed to have been beaten from that distance. The second half was different as the Swans swapped Stuart Roberts from one flank to the other and “pushed” forward Michael Howard, which meant that suddenly, the quality of crosses was improved. From Martin Thomas’ cross four minutes into the half Steve Watkin was clear just two yards out and despite Paul Smith efforts headed home to draw the home team level. From hereon the home team played all the football and there only looked like one team likely to win, but for all their effort the Swans only had half chances as the TNS rearguard held firm. Central defenders Tim Edwards and Steven Morgan never faulted at the mid Wales club got their deserved reward.
