With Hindsight!

…in the close season. Nice one Neil – the planet that you walk on has orbited at last. Of course some seven months too late, and add this latest mistake to the hundreds of others that have been made since 1997 and you reach one word, incompetence.

No wonder Ninth Floors share price is at an all time low, and in effect 0.7p when you consider the ten for one subscription of sixteen months ago, his shareholders must love him. But read between the lines for a minute, he ADMITS that we should have signed players, so I take it that any attempt was blocked?

Again Swansea City suffer at the hands of a man who has shown us all he has no feelings for the name that is Swansea City. I’m just surprised he has lasted this long. What a useless Chairman, a useless businessman and a useless figurehead for the club.

And now we read of more famous people in negotiation with him for the club, last month it was Chris Evans, spiked by Mclure’s own PR lunatic in Swansea, then it’s Tom Jones, now it’s Catherine Zeta Jones. Rubbish ! In the world most of us in it is called lies. Pure and simple.

And now for the truth Yes there is an American company interested in the club, they are nothing at all to do with famous folk, half baked radio station owners, actors, actresses or fruit and veg shop owners. They are based in New York and the reason for the interest is that a relative of one of this companies directors is a big Swans fan still resident in the City. That’s the truth.

To prevent any breach of confidentiality with the source this came from that’s all I will say. What I do know is that these people will not suffer the inadequate and poor business ethics of the current Swansea City owners. If they are messed about in any way at all they will pull out of any negotiations, they do not suffer fools gladly, so there’s a warning in there somewhere Mr. Mcclure. Suffice to say that this is still a long shot, but at least it is still a shot.

Supporters Trust Many people have asked about the possibility of Swansea City supporters running the club, and a few have muted that this is a good way forward. A very easy thing to say when you put the suggestion forward, do nothing about it, and go and put the kettle on. There has been a lot of work done in this direction for the last few weeks by a band of Swans fans based in Swansea and elsewhere.

And information is still rolling in from various sources about finances, commitment, future costs and the possibility of this being an option. I admit a week or so ago it seemed that it could happen, but I don’t know many Swans fans willing to put up their whole futures to save the club in this way. And by this I mean EVERYTHING. House, family, job the whole lot.

If you do then get in touch with me, this venture is a long way down the road, so if you have the time (all the time) and energy to drive it then get in touch. I very much doubt there will be many takers, and even less as this would be in the interests of the club, and not a get rich money making scheme on the back of a stadium that may or may not be built.

And on that point I now notice that the new DATE for the Morfa to start is June 1st 2001 ! The last date was March 28th 2001. As I say – you can’t trust nobody.

John Hollins MBE Okay John Hollins earned us a credible promotion last season, I saw about 19 games and most of them were pretty dire, but he did what we wanted him to do. But look at the season before that and the inadequate leadership of the side when we needed a few loan players in during February.

Where was John Hollins then ? And more to the point just what was he doing in the summer when he should have been assembling a decent outfit to remain in this division ? I maintain that he should have been sacked last season, many gave me a hard time for it, but he should have gone. He is by far the most dithering and stubborn manager we have ever had. And to top it all he now says he will not quit the club. Or is he saying ” I won’t quit the very nice wage I’m on, thanks very much “

If Neil Mcclure knew anything about football he would rid us of both John Hollins and Mike Lewis, two men bleeding Swansea City dry on massive wages. The backlash to this season has not yet been seen, are these people stupid ? The answer has to be yes, it’s a sad sad indictment of our club that we still see these people scraping the carcass dry whilst we die without dignity both on and off the pitch. I hold both John Hollins and Mike Lewis personally responsible for our situation, and also personally responsible for any incident or problems that arise between now and the end of the season. And the reason for this ?

They are not doing their jobs properly, because if they were we wouldn’t be in the bloody mess we are in now. Anybody else in industry, or any other appointment would have been shown the door.

Roger Freestone THE TRUTH

For a heart warming exclusive from the big man himself on his future at the club go to – http://www.rogerfreestone.com It’s about time we had some good news at Swansea City, it’s just a shame it’s the fans that have to get it done. It’s been hard to write this after this weeks disappointments, but here’s to a little bit of grit and steel at Colchester and Bristol Rovers this week, and lets get back some dignity.
