The home side looked the more likely to score in the opening exchanges, and it was no surprise when Barry Conlon gave them the lead by heading home a Gavin Johnson corner in the 19th minute. Kemi Izzet should have scored a minute earlier but his shot hit the inside of the post and stayed out.
Swansea turned up the pressure early in the second half with U’s keeper Andy Woodman denying Nicolas Fabiano while David Romo and substitute Lee Jenkins hit the woodwork. Scott McGleish put Colchester further in front with a looping header from another Johnson cross in the 64th minute. Conlon notched his second of the game, with four minutes left, when he slotted home a McGleish cross. More detailed Report to follow ! |
