Rumours (and that’s all they are) are of a rift with Onandi Lowe (they publicly have said they don’t like each other) and also that Boyd had insisted on being guaranteed the number 10 shirt.

He had flight tickets from the Jamaican FF to meet up and didn’t use them.

More rumours are that he’s teamed up with Dwight Yorke (who also went awol for Trinidad and Tobago), Brian Lara and another T&B player who had permission not to attend their games.

Clovis, the manager of the Jamaican team is furious and has slated Boyd in the press. On TV, he replied when asked about Boyd, “Go away and ask The Pearl if he wants to play for Jamaica”.

More rumours are that he was in negotiations with a Jamaican club and didn’t want to delay signing for them. He chose Club over Country.

Before anyone says different we can’t keep Boyd due to him getting nowhere near competing in 75% of the Swans matches since he signed in October 1999.

Apparently, his flight from the UK to Jamaica was paid for by the JFF (Jamaican Football Federation) and they are now considering legal action to get the money back.

At the start of the game (watched by 10,000 fans) there were many flags saying “Welcome Home Blacka”, “Pearl is my Hero” and “Warm Up the Pearl” !

These people were said to be stunned when they realised he wouldn’t be playing.

Some suggestions have been that Blacka was p!ssed off with being asked to play in friendlies to boost crowds but being ignored for the big games. This might explain his non-appearance. As was said earlier, the JFF are looking into the claims he defrauded them by using the ticket but not attending training or joining up with the camp.

Boyd is expected to make a statement today or tomorrow.
